A Little Bit About Me...

I traveled for a year with a family and home-schooled their 3 children. The children were in 1st grade, kindergarten, and pre-school and were seriously below grade level in math and reading. In that year, I brought those children beyond grade level in reading skills and comprehension as well as math skills. I have also been a teacher's assistant in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms and have gone through student teaching in the 3rd and 6th grade in order to complete my degree. I have had most of my experience with the elementary age-group but I also feel confident working through some middle school and high school material.

I taught H.S. chemistry I & II in the Indianapolis area from 2001-2005. Entering college at Western Michigan U, I had plans on becoming a teacher, but went into the analytical research laboratory. I decided to go back and get my teaching license because I have a passion for education. I believe that the learning experience is wonderful and chemistry/science excites me. I've always had a passion to teach. Life took me down a few different paths but I've managed to find my way back to teaching.
