A Little Bit About Me...

I really would like to help make a difference in someone's life and help them understand academics just like myself. When I try to teach someone, I always explain to them the subject as basic and simple as possible. I give a few examples, and then help them figure it out themselves. When/ if they struggle, I will be there to help set them back on track.
I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta- I will be graduated in December. I have been offered positions as a chemistry tutor but denied because of my other jobs. I was a student mentor for a year in high school to students that were "slacking" or wasn't understanding one or more of their classes. A Little Bit About Me...

I left full time teaching 3 years ago. I was the whole math dept. I taught 6,7,8,9th grade math in a private school. I did not realize how much I would miss it. I love teaching and appreciate that subjects such as chemistry can be very difficult for young people. This difficulty is often present for two reasons. The first is that chemistry is not necessarily intuitive. It studies particles that are too small to see and cannot be observed directly. The second is that most of the basic theory is derived with very advanced math and most students are taking chemistry in the tenth or eleventh grade. This means that a conceptual understanding is crucial to success. I began school as a Biology major for 2 years, so I have a great science background. I love to teach children. I finished my Masters program in December 07 and began teaching at the school I did my internship at, Briarcliff MS. I taught grades 6-8 and filled in for a Special Ed teacher at the end of the year. Also during that time I tutored a group of 6 graders in Math.

Most of my experience comes from tutoring my younger siblings in math and science. In high school, I tutored my younger peers to do well on their regents exams. I was the valedictorian of my high school and I got 5's on many of my AP exams. I graduated college summa cum laude with a BS in Human Biology.
