I have earned a bachelor’s degree in History and English, as well as a master’s degree in teaching. My educational background has given me a wide range of knowledge in the humanities, and my liberal arts education has helped me develop high reading and writing skills. A Little Bit About Me...

My role as a teacher is one where I facilitate a process of discovery. When a concept is presented in a lesson, it is followed by practice. In my class, there is room for risk-taking, and the mistakes only help to clarify the idea or concept. I approach the teaching of Reading as a Whole Language process, and also as a set of applied skills. Even though phonics, vocabulary, context clues, and other skills are important, reading for meaning is the ultimate goal.
Summary of Experience I have taught for the last three years (2005-2008) at an Elementary school in Palm Beach County. I taught third grade. This is the grade level where students are expected to pass the Reading portion of the FCAT test in order to be promoted to the next grade.
