As I teach, I love to find a child's strength and then expound upon that strength to aid their weaknesses. I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). I have currently completed 161 credits at Fredonia State. I am 18 credits away from being a certified teacher k-8 with a concentration is History. I have complete EDU 250 Intro to exceptional learner where I tutored a 2nd grader in reading. In this I had to create lesson plans and in the end the student improved from 5 words per minute to 25 words a minute, I received and A in the class. I also work at a before and after school program in Fredonia where I am always helping students in grades k-6 with homework.
