I especially enjoy working one-on-one with students because I am able to concentrate on his/her weaknesses. I like to use manipulatives and concrete examples whenever possible. After introducing a concept I work out examples with the student, then have him/her work through several examples while I watch and, finally, have the student work independently on a set of problems. If there are still errors I try to approach the concept from a different perspective and then repeat the process.
I have taught mathematics in grades 3 through college. I especially enjoy working with high school students and college algebra and trigonometry students. Since my retirement from college teaching I have been tutoring at Sylvan Learning, teaching some grade school math, algebra, geometry and ACT prep.

As a graduate from Briar Cliff College, I have always enjoyed learning and wanting to help others succeed. I have earned a BA degree in Elementary Education, in which I have taught in the classroom for 2 years, but have also taught at a learning center for a total of 5 years. As a graduate from UW- Madison in Elementary Education, I am passionate about teaching, learning, and the pursuit of excellence. I earned a 3.8 GPA from UW-Madison and gained great experience working with students of all ages and abilities.
