I have a bachelor's degree in English. After college, I worked in the communication area of a large company and wrote news releases and promotional newsletters. I also very briefly worked as a proofreader for the University Press. For one year, I volunteered as a tutor for PLUS (Project Literacy U.S.). It was very satisfying to help empower my students. As a tutor, I work to break things down into their constituent pieces and explain each of these pieces in turn. This is a more time-intensive method of instruction, of course, as the breaking down of information is totally dependent on the way it must be done for it to make sense to the student. I have always been interested and active in the education field. I enjoy working individually with students, more so than in a classroom setting.
