My comments on tutoring Sociology : Bachelor degree earned in Sociology in 2012

I have been working with the school system for several years. I am currently teaching a fourth/fifth grade split. I am very experienced in working with children who are at risk, special needs, and add/adhd. I have a proven track record of student growth in core subjects of 1 year 3 months. I enjoy tutoring and teaching and I work a great deal with parents in order to keep the educational goals on the same page for their child. I have experience in both the world of sociology and psychology. I am able to adapt to behavioral issues that plague some children. I work hard to really get to know the student and help them calm themselves if they should have test anxiety etc. Every child is unique and all children have to be taught in the way in which they can truly learn. I always teach with different styles due to my experience working in China, Ohio, and other areas.

I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. Being a current student myself, I can appreciate the hardships and struggles of education. I feel that you must always level with your students, no matter what the age. The students are the ones who must lead the class. However, we as educators have a duty to guide and to nourish this idea.
