Reading, Writing, and More

I have a Bachelors in English Literature w/a certificate in Technical Writing from the University of North Texas. I have put myself through school by working as server part-time. This has given me a great deal of patience. I have experience as an office manager for an apartment locator, and I have tutored my friends through their English courses.
I have no set style of teaching. I try to understand how to benefit the individual by examining their needs. Then, we go from there. Some students need an analytical approach, so the material can best be presented as a formula. Others need a creative approach. It really just depends on the student.

My comments on tutoring English : I was a straight-A English major at the University of Texas, Austin, and president of the National English Honor Society at UT.

I have joyfully taught students in grades 1 through 5 in Los Angeles urban schools, and in the suburbs of Plano. I have also been a Literacy Coach, assisting teachers in grades kindergarten through fifth to enhance their teaching skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, phonics, etc. - all areas of literacy. I have worked one-on-one and in small groups with "at-risk" students to pin-point their areas of weakness and fill in the gaps. Learning should be a fun experience for children and adults alike, and while I maintain structure, I also want to make sure that students are enjoying the time that they spend learning with me. I am a patient teacher, and as someone who went through school with ADD, I understand the difficulties many children face in traditional classroom settings.
I have recently graduated and am eager to share my knowledge with others. During my time in school, I became an AP Scholar, Presidential Scholar, 21st Century Scholar, and Honor Graduate.
