I am very good at what I do and hope I can help you learn.

I am very good at tutoring in English, English as a Second Language, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, spelling, basic math, especially percentages and fractions, I can tutor very basic algebra, Business English, Spanish, Machine Calculations, Keyboarding I and II, which is Beginning and Intermediate Typing, how to use the computer (search the Internet, use the mouse, keyboard, Microsoft Word, and things of that nature. I can also tutor Basic Excel. I have eight years experience tutoring these subjects at Shasta College and did a really good job.
I teach in patterns and find methods to make things easier for the student to learn. This is how I learn everything. I will explain what I am tutoring until the student totally understands. I have a lot of patience and a lot of compassion for helping students learn what they do not understand, and I am good at it.

My comments on tutoring Microsoft Office : I know Microsoft Word 2000 to 2010 pretty well. I use this all the time. I am not proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, or Access. I did take the classes and did really well in them at Shasta College. Once I get started with the homework and look at the instructions, I can show my students how to do what they do not understand. I know how to use Outlook also. I am a really good tutor.

I have eight years experience tutoring subjects like Basic Math, Basic Reading, Grammar, English 250, English 260, and English 270 at Shasta College. I also tutored subjects such as Keyboarding I and Keyboarding II, which is Typing I and Typing II on a computer; Machine Calculations, Business English, Business Communications, English as a Second Language, and Excel. In the eight years I tutored at Shasta College, these are the subjects I tutored and loved to see the success of my students after I helped them.
I teach everyone slowly and by going over the subject over and over again until it is understood. I am a very patient tutor and am good at what I do. I try to think of ways that would be easy for my students to understand. I can even work with Special Education students. My son was in Special Education all through grammar and high school, so I understand their needs.

First and foremost I love to write, and I'm more than happy to extend a helping hand no matter the subject. I encourage my students to write about subjects that interest them, all the while teaching the organizational tools to become effective and influential academic and creative writers. Because I have experience teaching a variety of writing courses I have a wide knowledge of form vs function techniques. A Little Bit About Me...

When working with children, I try my best to be engaging, interactive, and fun. If necessary, I'll use props (e.g. building blocks) to help illustrate concepts, and I always try to ask many questions along the way to make sure my explanations are clear. With older students I will use a slightly more textbook approach, but keeping lessons interactive still remains essential, and props may still be useful in some circumstances. In both situations, I try to find which learning styles work best for the student and present lessons based on those. Each person has a unique way of learning, and if a teacher takes the time to understand it, then the student's true potential can be reached.
