Political Science is one of my top subjects! Political Science was the centerpiece of my studies at the University of Florida. In addition to academic experience, I have been politically active for 12 years on both the state and national levels. My academic experience covers domestic politics and internal relations. I have been tutoring in the areas of international/domestic political theory for three years.

I am a firm believer that different people learn in different ways. Therefore, while I teach by my own set of principles I am always seeking feedback on how better to accommodate the manners in which criteria can be better understood.
Prior to serving in the United States Army, I was a successful entrepreneur in NJ. In 2003, I was recruited and after serving I returned to train troops at the Infantry Training Brigade at Fort Benning, GA. After returning home, I began working at a financial firm and became a licensed Investment Advisor and Asset Manager. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated Magna Cum Laude for Political Science, earned my certification in International Relations and minored in Classics. I headed multiple study groups for my peers upon their request and I have a great ability to explain very complex theory in very easy to understand terms. I know how to word something multiple ways so that if you are not understanding it one way I can easily try something different. I do not over complicate anything. I try to simplify as much as possible then build from there.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned my Ph.D. degree in European History in 2008 from the University of Florida. Currently, I am a professor in history at the University of Central Florida. My teaching experience includes teaching of upper and lower level university classes as well as tutoring students in the International Baccalaureate Program at Eastside High School. My primary field of specialization is Late Middle Ages and the transition from feudalism to capitalism. My secondary field is Modern European History
My teaching philosophy follows directly my understanding of history as an ongoing argument about a constantly proliferating subject. My goal as a teacher of history is not only to provide information, but also to model inquisitiveness about the past. On a practical level this means that I prefer to structure my teaching around primary sources and very recent examples of the historical writing ... read more

I believe that good teaching, like quality learning, comes with hard work. Having had the chance to see students grow with time, I have learned that patience, respect, and having fun are the best ingredients for a productive and positive learning experience. Often times, having a positive mentor can be that major difference in a student's life, and to that end I believe that tutoring is about more than just academic learning, but also about building relationships and learning essential life skills.
Although my chosen field of study is history, my passion is for education and learning. While earning both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, I have acquired an essential skill set for working in the academic world, which includes excellent writing, reading, and critical-thinking skills, in addition to a proficiency in Spanish acquired through years of classroom study and travel in L ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My students never doubted my love for them. They know that I am a serious instructor who knows when it's time for laughter and play. I have been known to expect so much from my students. That's because I recognize each and every one of their abilities and capabilities. I believe children have the ability to soar if someone just tries to see their potential and allow them to reach it. My philosophy is quite simple...in my classroom I maintain firmness, fairness, and consistency. This philosophy has always worked extremely well in the classroom with my students and I. They know the role I play and what I expect, and likewise my students know what to expect of me. I believe as an instructor that I have the ability to make a remarkable change out of the lives of many, but if I can reach at least one student--then, I have done a job well done. My students can honestly say I am striving to mak ... read more

I first began my love of teaching and tutoring children when I was a senior in high school. As the president of my school's National Honor Society, I began a tutoring program that enabled elementary and middle school students to be tutored by high school students. I continued to volunteer and tutor students while I earned my BS in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University. I am furthering my interest in education and working with children by pursuing my PhD in School Psychology at the University of Florida. I recently tutored a student in reading and writing for almost 1 year. I have always enjoyed math and science, so I would be happy to tutor a student in those areas in addition to reading and writing.
In my doctoral program, I am specializing in working with students with special needs and disabilities. Therefore, I strongly believe that every child can le ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Substance Abuse Program Case Manager, I conducted psycho-educational group sessions related to addiction/recovery issues and worked in a juvenile’s detention/commitment program. In adult corrections, I facilitated Addiction Treatment Counseling and Life Skills groups. When I worked in the foster care system, I taught Independent Living Skills to youth who were transitioning out of the system. All of these positions required extensive record-keeping duties and demanded strong writing skills.
I consider myself an empathetic and patient teacher of children and young adults. I believe that all children can learn and that it is incumbent upon the educator to strive to find what motivates the individual to achieve greater heights.
