I have been substitute teaching for four years for all grades and all subjects. I have been tutoring in my home for two years all grades in mainly mathematics. I have trained students in cognitive thinking skills at Learning RX for 2 years. I have three children of my own, two in college and one is a senior in high school. I work well with children of all ages and am considerably patient, easygoing, although stern as well with my students. My teaching style consists of visual illustrations mixed with a lecture or teaching session. Through my experiences at USD I have determined that the amalgamation of these two styles produce more stimulating teachings as well as information retention being maximized as well. I typically work off of a performance based reward system since it appears to me that children are motivated by praise and reward in order to push them to do better on each successive obstacle they encounter in the classroom

I have always enjoyed working with children of all ages. I taught dance for my high school years to younger children and I believe that has taught me a lot about teaching styles. I understand that not everyone learns at the same rate or in the same way. Students all have different styles of learning just as teachers have their different styles of teaching. Not only have I taught dance, but I also tutored through high school and thoroughly enjoyed it. I do believe ever child has that opportunity to learn if they are given the chance by a good teacher.
