A Little Bit About Me...

I remember my first tutor in junior high. He helped me gain an understanding beyond just the numbers and the formulas. From his example, I started tutoring friends as a sophomore in high school. I enjoy helping others see beyond the numbers, in understanding the basics, and seeing how everything fits together. I enjoy guiding the way and helping to enlighten children that have that innate curiosity. How many can envision the one (or two) individuals that helped them to see and imagine? I enjoy helping others and thereby learning about myself in the process. As Cal Poly SLO has one of the most competitive engineering programs on the west coast, I have a depth of knowledge in both math and sciences. After earning my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, I lived in Germany, Ohio, and Central California while trying to figure out my place in this world. I settled for two years in Salinas, California where I taught pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry to junior high and high school students. I believe this level of math is the most important as applications to everyday life are abundant.
As the school I taught at was private, the students were very competitive. I found my lectures and class activities reached 90% of the students.
