I have a B.S. degree in music. My instrument is classical guitar, with which I have developed a great degree of skill and I have performed many recitals. I also have extensive experience in composition, music theory and eartraing/sightsinging. In addition, my education has given me good writing and research skills. I like to incorporate a sense of humor in my teaching - I believe when children can relax they are much more open to learning. I am also sensitive to children's different learning styles whether they are visual, auditory or kinesthetic, and tailor my approach accordingly. No two sessions are ever the same! Each student has unique needs and challenges and my job is to work "through the maze" and carry the message to the brain. It's imperative to listen and understand a students challenges. Reviewing their previous work and giving a current test is a good indicator of the situation. I believe in practice and examples as the clearest path to success. I don't hand deliver answers and I make the process towards answers engaging.
