Piano is one of my top subjects! I've played the keys since I was 5. I'm now 60. That's a lot of experience! I have 2 degrees--one in church music (organ & voice) and one in music education K-6.

As a teacher of piano, organ and voice, I specialize in beginning through intermediate level, and accept students of all ages. I also teach most styles, including jazz & pop. Theory and improvisation are text (method) based, since I believe it's crucial to have an intellectual comprehension of the principals of harmony, melody and form. A Little Bit About Me...

I love making lessons fun and interactive for children. If a children does not understand a concept one way I find other ways to explain it.
When I was in elementary school I would help my mother with daycare at our home. I would teach the children new concepts and play with them. During high school I joined the pathfinder club and taught some of the younger children. During college, I tutored elementary children in reading and in math and would make interventions for them. I graduated from Southern Adventist University December 2018 with a bachelors in elementary education. I have spent time substitute teaching in elementary classrooms, working as a behavior teachers assistant, and working at summer camps.

My comments on tutoring Piano : With a BA degree in Music education I recently worked for 3 years at a local Piano Academy prior to my move to Nashville, TN. While teaching at the academy I was able to teach piano students of all ages, and really learn to tailor a lesson to the student. I also have 2 years of experience providing private piano instruction using various piano curricular apart from an academy.

My passion for music education was birthed through a childhood of great music exposure and music teachers. As a college graduate in Music Education, I sought to follow this passion for music and shared it with the hundreds of young lives I would teach.
