While I like students to know that I am an expert in my subject field, I also want them to take the opportunity to learn critical thinking skills. My teaching style involves demonstrating how to understand a problem or perform a task before I ask the student to do so. By facilitating students in such a way, I believe they have a more one-on-one learning experience, as opposed to a strict lecture setting. With guidance and demonstration, I believe it is easier for students to learn without pressure. I have a BS in journalism, and a specialization in advertising/integrated marketing communications. I love to write. As a pastor, professor, and playwright, I have actively been writing for the past ten years. I have written hundreds of sermons, lesson plans, papers and newsletters. I have also written five plays for young adults, one of which was published. I earned a master's degree in Divinity, a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts with a minor in Psychology, and further graduate credit in Communication from Purdue. Every student is different, therefore every student has different needs. Every student also can learn differently, whether it be by incorporating more or less visual learning strategies, auditory learning strategies, or using more of the "hands on" approach.
