A Little Bit About Me...

My experience includes two years of full time teaching at the PreK level. I also have experience working with grade level students through practicums, student teaching, and substitute teaching. I have assisted teachers with middle school students during a summer technical program as well. I currently hold a M.S. in Education specializing at the Elementary grade levels. I also have a B.F.A. in Photography with a minor in Journalism.
My teaching style varies depending on the needs of each student. Because students learn in different ways, I feel it is important to start with a basic teaching method and evolve from there for each individual child and his or her level of learning. I feel that motivation goes a long way and that students should feel rewarded for any level of progress they accomplish.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent most of my adult life helping children learn. I have worked in childcare facilities, as well as in public and private schools and as a private tutor. I have taught or worked with preschoolers through 5th graders. I've worked with special needs children, as well (ADD/ADHD, LD, ED, and ODD, for example). I've helped students improve their grades by two letter grades over the course of the year, and helped some achieve honor roll for the first time in their lives. I have tutored reading and math, as well as having taught all basic elementary school subjects.

I am a creative teacher, meaning that I assess the individual and do not have an agenda that I adhere to. Normally, I am able to advance a child a grade level in reading with three months of tutoring and reinforcing homework, during the summer. However, I will go the extra mile to help a student be able to totally understand what I am trying to help them learn. I have numerous children's educational CD-ROMs for the children who learn better with that visual help. I love to watch children learn and love to be the one who makes them able to succeed. Children's church is where a year of my experience comes from. I would guide a group of children during the service and would spend individual time with those who wanted to brush up on their reading and writing. I enjoyed every minute of this experience and can say I made an impact in those children's lives.
