A Little Bit About Me...

For just over a decade I have been involved in some form of peer education or mentoring. As a senior in high school, I tutored students in mathematics and science. As an ACS Certified Chemist, I have been exposed to upper level mathematics, chemistry and physics, but am still required to use writings skills in preparing various reports and papers. The opportunity to be a Teaching Assistant in upper-level chemistry and mathematics was rewarding and reinforcing at the same time. I have served in a variety of leadership roles, both academic and extra-curricular, that have shaped the person I am today.
The chance to tutor peers in high school was the initial spark towards considering education as a career. A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent most of my adult life helping children learn. I have worked in childcare facilities, as well as in public and private schools and as a private tutor. I have taught or worked with preschoolers through 5th graders. I've worked with special needs children, as well (ADD/ADHD, LD, ED, and ODD, for example). I've helped students improve their grades by two letter grades over the course of the year, and helped some achieve honor roll for the first time in their lives. I have tutored reading and math, as well as having taught all basic elementary school subjects.
I firmly believe ALL children can learn, but not everyone learns in the same way. I do my best to make a positive difference in their lives. I'm very patient and always listen to my students.
