I am not a teacher; I am an awakener!

I have taught in the education field since 1999. I am very fortunate to have had the privilege of working with a multitude of learners in a variety of environments. Early in my career I worked with adults that were mentally and physically challenged. I found this very rewarding and decided to pursue a degree in education, which lead me on my journey into the world of Special Education. As a graduate student, I understand what it is like to be both a student and a teacher. I believe that understanding is the key to enjoying learning and retaining knowledge. As a tutor I always strive to make the material accessible to the student as well as focusing on each students’ individual strengths and abilities. I also teaching studying and organizational skills. I have recently graduated from Purchase College with an Undergraduate degree in Music with a minor in English. During School I tutored students in English composition and edited students essays and papers during the entirety of my undergraduate education. I have also taught voice and music theory to students privately. In High-school I scored a 97 percent out of 100 on the English regents exam. I recently received a full scholarship to complete my masters at the University of Maryland.

Hired directly from my student teaching experience, I have worked for John Jay High School for four years now. I have taught ninth and tenth grade Regents English and ninth and tenth grade reading and writing intervention classes.
