A Little Bit About Me...

I am a current student of Arabic (experience in Modern Standard Arabic, Egyptian, Levantine, Saudi) and Russian at university. I have previously studied French, Medieval French, and Latin (among other languages) and consider myself knowledgeable on the topics. Currently, I am a mentor to ESOL students and peer tutor to those in Russian and Arabic.

Let's get back down to the basics (Latin, History, Science)

I recieved a BA degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I majored in Classical Civilization (with a Latin Concentration) and History. I have 12 years of experience teaching Latin. The courses I have taught include introductory courses, Latin I, Latin II, and Latin III. 3 years of Life Science teaching experience. 4 years of History teaching experience (as a tour guide and history interpreter) 12 years of experience teaching writing as well.
I like to boil things down to the basics. With Latin and Science that means learning as much as one can about the basic elements and then building one step at a time on those basics. In history, it means learning the story, and telling the story.

I always look forward to tutoring new people becuase I not only get to make a difference in their life by helping them master what they're struggling with, but I also get to learn about people and different learning styles. I view tutoring as a way to help others while improving my interpersonal skills. I value all the skills I gain from tutoring because they will be assets when I become a physician. As a daughter of a professor I have learned that studying and learning is one of the most important things in life. Knowledge is priceless and a good that no one can take from you. Therefore I was very ambitious in university. I have started off with International Development but continued my Masters in Arabic in less than two years, because I was so focused and interested. During school I found out that one of the best ways to learn is to teach others. That was the point when I found that teaching was my call.
