A Little Bit About Me...

I have had intensive training with multiple intelligence (Kagan structures) with my current employer. I use these structures during every lesson. Multiple intelligence structures focus on cooperative learning and allow for students to learn in a way that is most suitable for them. The students become familiar with these structures and look forward to using them during the lessons to share their thoughts and findings with their peers.
Throughout college I tutored elementary students for a tutoring company that worked with students in an urban district in Pennsylvania. My tutoring experiences are in K-1 and grade 3. I graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2013 with a degree in elementary education. I moved to North Carolina from Pennsylvania in 2013 to pursue my career in teaching. Elementary is one of my top subjects!

I try to include fun in every lesson. Playing games, creating rhymes or chants to remember mechanical rules helps students to move forward in their skills. Consistency with generous praise so that students feel success creates readers.
I have taught all aspects of literacy since 2003. This includes reading, writing, grammar, phonics, spelling, and handwriting. I was an Early Literacy teacher for two years and a Title I teacher for three years. In addition, I have taught preschool children and middle school children. My last three years of teaching directly were in a second grade classroom. I have abundant experience in assessing reading skills and abilities and determining students' reading levels.
