A Little Bit About Me...

Upon graduation from West Virginia University I received a BS degree in Forensic and Investigative Science with an emphasis in Chemistry and Examination. The emphasis means that I have chemistry qualifications required to perform analysis in a lab. I have taken everything from Chemistry in high school to several courses beyond Organic I and II. I was a member of the NHS and had the responsibility of tutoring students in high school level math, chemistry, and biology. During my internship with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, I aided in teaching courses to a youth group centered around Forensics. As a graduate student I taught an undergraduate engineering lab course for a semester, and spend 2-3 additional semesters grading tests and assignments for various undergraduate level courses in mechanical engineering. In addition, I also worked as a tutor during my senior year in high school, as well as at various times while an undergraduate student in college. The subjects that I have teaching/tutoring experience are in the fields of math and science.
I feel that it is important to explain basic underlying theory behind science and math, as well as presenting these topics in a step by step, logical manner. I feel it is important to teach methods for how to obtain a solution and not rely on rot memorization of facts and equations.

I am excellent at breaking things down and making them easy to remember. Relating the subject material to something the learner can understand is key. I am very patient and will take the time to learn how to help each student in the most productive way I can.
Completing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics in less than four years took dedication and excellent study skills.
