A Little Bit About Me...

Determining the learning styles of individual students is important to me. I adjust and accomodate my approach based on how students respond and learn. Changing my methods and being creative help me reach students on many levels. I enjoy building on past knowledge, kinesthetic activities, and appealing to students interests.
I have been a teacher for the past five years. I have taught Language Arts and History. For the past two years I have taught 7th and 8th grade, but I have also taught 9th and 5th grade. Outside of my career, I have tutored my own children, currently ages 11 and 9.I have also been an Intervention Coach and tutor. I excell at individual and small group tutoring.

Throughout my undergraduate studies, I was heavily involved in volunteering and mentoring in everything from education to community outreach programs. After I received my undergraduate degree, I became a corps member in the 2003 Teach for America corps. As a corps member, I served as a member of a national service corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit two years to teach in under-resourced urban and rural public schools.
