I am very hands on. I like to first show how a problem is done, discuss the purpose of each step and then the student work the problem. From there I prefer to have students work problems and ask questions as they come up. After each problem is complete I then review the problem with the student.
As a graudate student I was a held a postion as a Graudate Research Assistant for the Geotechnical Lab. As such I taught undergraduate students the theory behind laboratory test, what each test provides the engineer and how to conduct the test. Furthermore I assisted undergraduate students with homework problems and helped them prepare for tests.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a parent of two school-aged children I have had the oppurtunity to learn about the newest teaching methods employed by teachers at this time. We often work together on math and science. I am currently working on my teaching certification in middle school science, but have always been had excelent aptitude for mathmatics. The difficulty comes from attempting to connect their intuitive understanding with the symbols on the paper. Many students think of these subjects as the memorization of formulas.
