I am a freshman at BYUI, studying to become a Physician's Assistant, and minoring in English. I love English, music, and history! I specialize in English mostly, as I took many AP and Honors English classes in high school. I also scored a 30 on my english ACT and a 28 on my reading ACT! I can teach music as well, for I have been playing piano for about 10 years. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught middle school students reading, English, and mathematics for 10 years. I earned my bachelor's in Elementary Education from Utah State with an emphasis in mathematics. As a middle school teacher, I have found that one of the main reasons students struggle is that they have reading deficits. This prompted me to pursue a Master’s degree in Literacy. I have tutoring experience in mathematics and reading. I am also a musician. I play the violin and sing as a mezzo-soprano. I have musical experience with college and community symphonies and choirs.

I love interacting with children and teaching them to the best of my ability. I know that each child is unique and you have to truly understand the child and the stresses and concerns they have with learning, before you can teach them. During the completion of my BMA, I accepted a tutoring position and tutored all students (including disabled students) for two years. I eventually moved on to substituting for professors and even gained an assistant to the professor position, which included developing and teaching lesson plans. If they are willing, and if they are taught correctly, every child can learn. No two children are the same, and should not be taught as such. There are so many different ways to teach and understand a concept, and I try to search out the technique that best fits a child in need. I am a firm believer that there is nothing we “can’t do” if we are taught in such a way that we can truly understand. To turn on the light, you must simply find the right switch. I never let a student settle for less than they can do, but I do recognize when something is not working and techniques need to be changed. I am patient, fun, eager to teach and willing to learn.

I teach from the core of a person they have the inner agency to choose to succeed and they can succeed if they desire to be great they will be great. Also I believe in teaching through the nine learning intelligences as well as the six thinking hats. Also I teach by blooms taxonomy up to synthesis and evaluation. I am up to date and have read many books and taught in these styles.
I have been a teacher and tutor for a few years. I taught in a high school English and Music. Right after I graduated High school I was asked to help struggling students and teach a bit when the teacher was gone. Also I have worked in Elementary schools I have taught lessons at least once a week. I have been in teaching methods classes and I have take Education psychology. I have also been able to in three months encourage students to improve grades that are at a 50% low to a 90-100% high.
