A Little Bit About Me...

I like to first get an idea of what the student knows about the problem.. I find that the more time I spend listening to what they know it naturally turns into what pieces I need to add-in. Unless they came to the session to learn new material that would be a different scenario entirely in which it would depend on the student how I taught. I would have to find out what type of a learner they are. Whether it be a visual learner, if they need examples or are an entirely conceptual type of learner.
Throughout college I had extensive experience working with classmates while we solved math equations and physics problems together. I did volunteer work teaching English to children in Mexico as well as teaching English to college age students in Mexico.

I have found through my teaching that there is a motto that works very well in most situations. "Teach in such a way that it is impossible to not understand" basically if one can teach a complex subject in such a way that even a child can understand it then you are successful as a teacher. But with physics that is not always possible. It is all about the person learning not for me to hear myself talk and get through a lesson. All that matters in the end is what the student learned coming out of the the instruction.
I spent 2 years in mexico teaching in spanish. During some of that time i was the teacher for english classes. I graduate this december with my bachelors in physics, experience of working with classmates and helping other students as they helped me gave me years of experience working as a team on homework assignments.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with young children of all backgrounds. These beautiful young people have such interest in everything about them and a natural drive to experience all they can in the process of developing themselves. I find they have much direction of their own with a little help of an idea, or a touch, or a taste, or a feeling. I love to allow them moments of exploration with some structured direction to a specific end, they seem to find naturally. My belief is to give them some tools and a field and let them explore while answering their questions through enterprising research and exploration along the way.
It was a drive within my nature or inner self to pursue a course in Child Development and Family Relations and a minor in Psychology as I attended college at Ricks College and Brigham Young University. My direction following those events led me to teach as an ass ... read more

I do not have a degree. I have been instructed by the teachers I have worked with. My style is to let the student know that they are to be attentive, polite, and to try their best to do the lessons. I tell them that I am there to help them and I do encourage them by rewarding with appropriate items. I have been raising a great grandchild, now 11 years of age. I adopted him at age 24 months. He has been diagnosed with ADHD, ODD, and Emotionally Challenged. I have learned a great deal working with the schools, teachers, PSR's and counselors. I believe I can be an asset as a reading tutor to children at all levels. I feel I have developed patience and skills needed to work with the children.

I enjoy watching students grasp the scientific method as it is something that comes naturally to most people if put in the right context. Science is rewarding to teach because it incorporates other disciplines like math. I often receive comments about my effective teaching style. I believe this is because of my education and that teaching science is a passion for me and a lifetime pursuit. I have noticed that people understand science better when it is related to their life. In other words, the student can apply a scientific concept in their own life. I have yet to meet a student unable to grasp scientific concepts that has gone through the mental exercise of the scientific method.

If they are willing, and if they are taught correctly, every child can learn. No two children are the same, and should not be taught as such. There are so many different ways to teach and understand a concept, and I try to search out the technique that best fits a child in need. I am a firm believer that there is nothing we “can’t do” if we are taught in such a way that we can truly understand. To turn on the light, you must simply find the right switch. I never let a student settle for less than they can do, but I do recognize when something is not working and techniques need to be changed. I am patient, fun, eager to teach and willing to learn.

While I was serviing as a missionary, I had the chance to train three missionaries. What that entailed was basic people skills, understanding the language, and helping them to gain confidence in themselves through speaking. That is what I would like to describe the way that I teach. It would be very time effective and they would see results very fast. As I constantly speak to them, they would be able to use the material and feel more confident in their abilities. Not only would it be a fantastic experience for any student, but I would try to re-enforce the idea that learning can be fun.
As a missionary for the LDS Church in Arizona, I was speaking with the Hispanic people for more than 10 hours a day. We taught in their homes, we learned their culture, and came to gain a great respect for work. As I have returned home after two years of service I now attend school at BYU-Idaho. My ... read more

I have always had a strong desire to learn and share with others the knowledge that I have. I enjoy being around people, especially ones that are eager to learn. With my experience of working with people with learning disabilities, I have learned to become very patient and understanding of other peoples learning needs. I have also learned how to provide an environment that best fits the student’s needs. I feel that the best way for people to learn is through doing things on their own. As a tutor, I feel as though I act as a guide for the student to discover their own knowledge. I love helping other learn. It is very satisfying to me to see the students understand the material and succeed.

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that the biggest change for good that any one of us can make is in the lives of the children we find around us. I love teaching. I believe that any child can learn if given the right motivation, tools, and environment. The greatest success any teacher or educator can achieve is to have the child get excited about learning. I believe that in order to learn, students must be allowed to explore.
I am currently a student at Brigham Young University - Idaho where I am pursuing a degree in Biology with minors in Child Studies and Chemistry. I was a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints and taught the gospel. I also had the opportunity while I was on my mission to teach Spanish to adults who were interested from the community. While I was in another area I had the chance of teaching two teenage Mexican girls English. I've been a R.S. and Sunday School teacher for one year and a R.S.
