My comments on tutoring Guitar : I have had 2 classes of guitar from FSU and I am a music therapist. I know the basic open chords and barre chords. No classical guitar experience.

I have played flute for 13 years and have played in many different settings including: Concert, jazz, solo, choir, etc. I studied under Dr. Shelley Binder for 4 years at the University of Tennessee, specifically working under the French school for flute. I worked with Rusty Holloway for 2 years learning the basics of Jazz and have performed in several small jazz groups. I also play guitar on a regular basis; I know the basic open chords and barre chords. I know how to teach the basics of guitar using the student's preferred music.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe everyone will respond well to individualized instruction when the tutor studies the student's learning style and offers the information in the form best suited to each learner. I am patient and encouraging with students. I work hard to find ways to present a subject so that each learner will find it interesting.
I am the author of five historical novels and a number of articles, poems and short stories. I occasionally do short “residences” teaching Language Arts and Drama to special needs students in k-12 schools for VSA Arts of Florida. My graduate studies emphasized American and Tudor/Stuart History. My doctorate included a Criminal Justice minor. I regularly teach writing and grant writing seminars to adults, usually through libraries on weekends or in the evening.

A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my existence I have found myself in the role of teacher. Whether it be academic or physical, I have been blessed with keen abilities, as well as an ease in communicating ideas. This, I believe, stems from a need to comprehend not just the action of something, but the reason for that action as well. The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I take a lot from the amazing teachers I've had and would hope to be able to pass that on.
I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. Since that time, I've worked as a legal assistant/paralegal with different law firms in town. Recently, I decided to return to school and received my certificate in Massage Therapy.
