A Little Bit About Me...

During my four years at Notre Dame, I majored in mathematics and gained alot of experience in various areas of math. In addition, Notre Dame requires everyone to take a broad range of subjects for general credit and so I have learned skills in writing and grammar through work on several research papers. In my spare time, I tutored elementary age kids with homework and this last summer, I spent five weeks teaching primary school math in Uganda. Lastly, for the last three years, I worked as both a group tutor and an individual tutor for the First Year of Studies program at Notre Dame. I tutored freshman in both Calculus I and II and feel very comfortable working as a tutor in any setting.

I consider teaching as the most noble work a person can do. Both my parents are teachers since 1970s and I carried that gene. In my opinion, teaching is a partnership between the instructor and the student. Feeding the curiosity of the students can help them get passionate about the subject and try to find answers. Such style helped me explain hard subjects such as cryptography to non-computer students. Moreover, technology can enhance the learning experience by providing intuitive tools such as social networking to better the communication between students and instructors. The teachers who continue to influence me and affect my day-to-day life are those who had a genuine passion for teaching and a contagious love for their subject. They were the best teachers, not only because they possessed the necessary knowledge, but because they were animated and caring and able to cater to students' needs.
