Also, I was a dual-enrolled student at EGSC during my high school career, completing advanced level courses in Literature and Mathematics. I have worked in the Education field for 9 years. I started off as a substitute teacher and later became a "permanent substitute" in 2002. In this same year, I also became a class monitor for Psycho-Edu with the Johnson Co. School System. These jobs both required me to help teach elementary students in every subject.
My goal as a teacher is to help children appreciate learning and have fun while doing. I started substitute teaching when I was in undergraduate school just as a source of income and because I like teaching. My mother is a retired teacher who taught for over 30 years. I work as an engineer but I always find time to tutor. I have tutored with an SES program and have found that this worked really well. Focusing on how the children learn as a method to approach how they should be tutored is very effective and the children learn.
I have substitute taught for over 16 years and this past year I worked with the SES program tutoring. My areas of focus are sciences and maths but I have had to tutor reading. This year I tutored middle school students but I have tutored elementary as well. I tend to focus on the high level maths and sciences often taking long term positions in high school.
