A Little Bit About Me...

I am extremely passionate about the education of our youth, and I believe that it is the foundation of a growing society. I have worked with children in urban high schools and juvenile facilities, and I have thus learned to appreciate the difference that a dedicated teacher can make in an environment that does not lend itself to learning and growth. In addition, I have worked with adults who did not have the opportunity to receive a quality education in their youth. Their willingness and excitement to learn was inspiring. I believe it there is an innate desire to learn and acquire knowledge in most children and adults. I am a person who was privileged to receive a quality education, and this provided me with the skills to engage people in learning, attempt to understand their needs, and push them to meet their potential.

I currently hold an associate’s degree from Grand Rapids Community College in applied arts as well as an associate’s degree from Davenport University in accounting. I will also graduate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting on April 25, 2010. I worked for over three years for the Boardwalk Fitness Center where I was the general manager in charge of over 20 employees. I was also responsible for the general accounting duties, payroll, and customer billing. I am also an Eagle scout, where I spent years doing community service and teaching younger scounts.
I love working with children of all ages. My teaching style I would describe as a friendship in which I work together. I have found as long as you are a positive force and are willing to put in as much time as it takes, you can help the student reach their fullest potential.
