I began teaching private piano and oboe lessons around 1970 and continued it as time permitted until the present. It is enjoyable and rewarding to see someone work hard and feel with them the joy of their success. I have played all the instruments to varying degrees to be able to teach them. When I began substitute teaching in the 1990s I was able to teach almost every subject on every level. My strengths are reading, mathematics (including algebra and geometry), English, grammar, Spanish, and of course music. My teaching experience began during high school when I would help out at my church's Sunday School providing remedial services like handing out papers. Since then I have earned a bachelor's degree in finance and economics with ambitions to earn a PhD. During my undergraduate experience I tutored beginning accounting students for a couple hours a week aside from the usual work of helping classmates. Upon graduation I began looking other ways to continue teaching. About 10 months ago I began volunteering at a community center.
