A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate at MIT, I have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, and have complete master of those taught at the high school level. I have also completed several advanced courses in chemistry, biology, and physics, but am still young enough to remember the techniques I used to learn those subjects when I myself was a high school student. I have prepared many students (privately) for final exams in biology, geometry, and algebra.
I have a knack for creating analogies and mechanisms to help students remember things for exams, as well as strategies and ways of thinking that may be a little different than what was taught in class (but still gets them to the final result). I really want to help kids succeed in school and be in charge of their learning even after I am no longer their tutor. I like to inspire them to learn.

After receiving my BA in Math Education, I spent four years in aerospace engineering before beginning my career in teaching. I taught high school math for 3 years in a private school in the US then 2 years in a public school in an urban setting in Africa, where I adapted to teaching in another culture and language. A Little Bit About Me...

I began my professional career in land surveying. After the birth of my two sons I revised my goals toward an educational experience at the elementary level. I completed my practicum in Elementary Education and performed a year of substitute teaching in both the elementary and middle school levels. Since that time I went on to complete a secondary degree in mathematics with a certification in secondary level education. Every one can learn. Sometimes an individual learns in their own unique style and finding that style is the key to teaching them. The best way to teach someone is to guide them when they come to a road block, rather than to give them the answer. The amount of pride and prestige that comes from having figured out a problem on their own is the most important thing.
I've always loved to read, I inhereited it from my father who got it from his father. I'm an avid writer as well. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout high school and college, I have tutored peers and younger students in both math and physics several times, occasionally for pay. Last year I was a course assistant for a college freshman-year math course in theoretical math at Harvard University. I am enrolling in a PhD program in pure math at the University of Texas, Austin, where I will have a 16-hour-per week teaching load including three sections of undergraduate calculus.
