A Little Bit About Me...

Every child has the potential to learn. However, every child is different and therefore, learns differently. It is important for an educator to understand this. It is crucial for a teacher to get to know their students and be able to create lesson plans that are not only innovative, but that are accomodating to each of their students. As a teacher, I realize that we are not perfect and that sometimes, a lesson that we may feel is incredible, may not be so incredible to a student. I volunteered at the Ocean County Library writing center for four years and helped my peers construct, organize, and layout essays. I also proofread, edited, and helped in the creative process of their essays. I am curreently working part-time at Ocean County Library (Lakewood Branch) tutoring k-12 students after school in the S.M.A.R.T kids program.
I focus on starting small and helping the student develop on their own. For example, when I teach how to write a strong essay, we write many drafts of an introduction. Then, we write many drafts of body paragraphs. Last, we would focus on writing a conclusion. Then, by working seperately on all of an essay's parts, the combined product is much stronger. The art of teaching is similiar to building a house: you start with an idea, then a foundation, and finally the framework.
