Grammar is one of my top subjects!

I've never really tutored before outside of helping my classmates, but even still I excel when it comes to teaching others tactics for reading and writing. I am extremely patient and studious when it comes to helping others learn, especially children. I graduated a year earlier than I should have due to skipping a grade because of my reading and writing skills. I took two years of AP English (Rhetoric and Literature) in high school and scored a 4 (out of a maximum score of 5) on my AP exam. I also scored around a 1700 on my SAT, mainly excelling in the Reading and Writing portion.

I began tutoring people when I was in the eigth grade. I decided I wanted to help out at the school across the street from my middle school in Colorado. I enrolled in a class that allowed us to go and assist the teachers and help the students. I fell in love with kids then for sure. I already knew I liked them because I started babysitting when I was 11 and couldn't stop! Then in ninth grade, a neighbor failed kindergarten and asked if I would starting coming over several days a week to help him understand what was being taught. Before I began my professional teaching career, I worked for the Read Across America program helping young learners gain an appreciation for reading. I mentored elementary students who were labeled at risk due to low performance in reading. In 2001, I began teaching pre-k in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
