I worked as the artistic program director of a community based non-profit agency for children ages 3-18. I taught theater and tutored core curriculam to children in the after school program. I also created and conducted literacy and arts training for the resident Americorps Program. I was the director and artist for Wolf Trap Early Arts Learning, which is a program developed to teach early childhood instructors how to use the arts as a vehicle to teach core curriculam. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. I also participated in the Junior Achievement program in the Piedmont NC region for over 5 years. I am currently a tutor with the "No Child Left Behind Program."
I am a disciplinarian. I have an excellent ability to gain a students attention, keep it and the results of my students have been well above average. I have a knack to bring into the classroom, outside events (latest ball games, Olympics, etc.) to establish a 'bond' between myself and the student. This allows me to gain their confidence as well as not create a bored atmosphere. I find this very important, especially with the more difficult students.
