A Little Bit About Me...

It is important to teach children with appropriate strategies and techniques to maximize their success. I use visual aids to make the lesson interesting. I teach with Orton Gillingham approach, multi-sensory and kinesthetic style.
I have B.Sc. in Fine Arts with a minor in Special Education from Texas Women's University; a B.F.A in Graphic Design from the University of Kansas; and M.F.A in Painting and Textiles from Texas Women's University. I have a Teacher's Certificate in Elementary Education from Kenya.. I worked as an Instructional assistant for 12 years working In 3 different Deaf schools in NYC. Also, I worked as a "residential Advisor at NCSD briefly. For over 10 years working as an Outreach Specialist for American Deaf Exposition, I travelled nationwide educating the public about resources that were available to the general public. I believe that each child learns in a different way, and as a teacher it is my challenge and duty to teach in such a way, to approach the problem from enough different angles, that each student would understand the concept at hand.
