A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style varies according to the different areas of need in each child. No one child is the same, and they all learn in different manners. I approach the student with a safe and clean environment in which they feel the most comfortable learning. A method that works best for them and a friendly approach that makes them understand I care about them and am there to help. I keep in mind that every child has a different way in which to reach goals, so I provide each child with an individualized goal sheet.
As a daughter of an elementary education teacher, I have been driven by a passion to teach children in areas where they show need. I am in my second year in Northern Arizona University with junior credits. A Little Bit About Me...

I strive for diversity of skill set. I obtained my degree in Law and Justice at which time I made the switch from fourteen years enlisted Air Force and joined the ranks of Air Force officer. I have spanned career endeavors to include paralegal, contracting, air operations, aircraft command and control and my new desire to teach. I have been functioning as a career substitute teacher for four years now, in two states while operating a small home-based consulting business.
My teaching style is based on the belief that I learn just as much from the students as they learn from me. I operate in a role of discover at their wonderment and eagerness. I believe in Howard Garner's theory of teaching to the student style of learning. They are as follows: Visual, Auditory, Musical, Kinesthetic, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. As I work with the student and get to understand their abilities and limitations I develop a style that will work the best for that particular student.
I have worked with students of all grade levels from volunteering at the Cocopah Head Start preschool to working with high school students as a substitute teacher. I have an English as a Second Language endorsement and have worked with adults in improving the English level. I excell in creative writing and am currently assisting friends in obtaining their GED.
