I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. In August of 2008, I started teaching High School Biology I, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science to students in Polk County. A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring math for Stetson University which ranged from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2. I then began tutoring privately and I have tutored lower level math and advanced statistics. I have tutored a student who was failing calculus in class but then they earned the highest possible grade on the standardized test. I also have a degree in mathematics.
My teaching style involves a lot of examples and having the student answer the questions on the board. I am able to come up with examples off the top of my head and have the student work through the problem to prevent "dumb" mistakes (such as forgetting a minus sign). I am very patient and allow my students as much time as possible and encourage them to ask whenever they are stuck. I try to show that math can be fun and interesting and that there are applications out in the real world.
