I am an interactive teacher, and I believe in step by step instructions when needed. Most importantly, I believe in the power of clear thinking combined with creative thinking. My degree is in secondary education with a minor in philosophy and a major in English.
I taught English for 40 years and am now recently retired. I taught English overseas while in the US Peace Corps, 1969-71. I taught English at MATC for two years. Most of my career was at the high school level teaching all types of classes, such as literature, Shakespeare, creative writing, reading, plays and drama, speech, etc. after retirement, I became a writing facilitator for elementary teachers. I worked with grades 1-8 teaching the six traits of writing. I have also tutored several students.

While attending UW-Whitewater I completed my Observation and Participation at Golda Meir in Milwaukee for 4th grade, completed my Field Study at Palmyra-Eagle High School for grades 9-12, and have just completed my Student Teaching at BlackHawk Middle School on Madison's East Side for 8th grade. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated summa cum laude with my BA and MA in Italian linguistics and while that seems to be a degree that is not very marketable in the field of general tutoring, I have studied other subjects at the graduate level which I believe qualify me to tutor younger students. Beside my experience teaching Italian, I also taught Spanish level 1 and 2 at the high school level, studied French for 5 years and am currently studying Arabic at UW Madison. First, I am a life long learner and love reading. I have a masters in Library Science and have worked for the past 2 years as a reference librarian where I frequently answered questions, worked with patrons one on one, taught ACT prep and computer classes.
