I am a strong believer in the Socratic style of teaching which, as you know, helps students themselves to think through issues and problems and discover the answer as we move along. I have always enjoyed leading students to that 'eureka' moment where they have grasped a difficult idea or concept, put it in their own words, and communicated it back to me, the teacher. I do believe that most children are capable of this kind of learning, at an appropriate level with their development, and do remember the information better than if they have learned something by rote, but not really understood it.

For the last five years, I have been helping children and adolescents with disabilities and, more recently, tutoring students at BSU. After five and a half years at BSU, I graduated with an elementary education degree. I have a background in mathematics and science, as both were previous majors I chose to pursue. During my last year of college, I was in the public schools where I taught and apprenticed under master teachers in both the 1st and 4th grades. During the summer of 2005, I tutored mentally disabled children in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I attended the University of Idaho and have received a B.S. in Mathematics. While there, I worked at the Polya Math Lab, tutoring college algebra. I continued to tutor on my own during college, and have tutored in all forms of vector calculus, from methods of integration to 3d modeling.
