A Little Bit About Me...

I am more of a hands on,and mainly a lot of visuals as well as worksheets. Sometimes I use music, artists, sports and current events as a reference.
Every since I was little, I realized that I wanted to help others. I taught a bunch of young female children about field hockey. I have tutored my cousins in all of the areas listed and it helped them with their studies and their education. While I tutor, I like to have music playing in the background softly. I am available during the academic school semesters and the rest of the remaining summertime. I do have a full time job, and the only time that I am available now would be after 1 pm to about 6 pm throughout the week and weekend.

A Little Bit About Me...

Working with younger children and teens has always been fun for myself. I think it's good to get to know the student on somewhat of a personal level. This allows for you to understand how the student thinks and learns, since every student learns differently. I am a very patient person and I try to find the best possible learning approach.
I recently graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Civil Engineering in December 2009, which has given me a very strong mathematical background. I believe that you must approach education by meeting the student where he or she is rather having the student conform to your style. Therefore I embrace an eclectic style. Each student will present with some king of dominant learning style. They will be primarily visual, auditory, conceptual or experiential. It is my job to discover that style in the teaching process and direct my approach to that student.
