My comments on tutoring Sign Language : I have been using sign language in my profession for 6+ years now

Hi my name is Krystal and I would love to introduce you to the world of Sign Language! I studied 3 years of ASL in highschool. The last year I took involved tutoring deaf children in elementary school. After high school I worked in a group home where one of the residents. was both deaf and blind. I worked one on one with this resident for 5 1/2 years. During this time I have also nannied and taught the kids I cared for , along with their parents, ASL.
My teaching style is laid back and very interactive. ASL is a social and visual language and should be taught as such.

For the past 10 years, I have worked in my community, helping to better the lives of children. At age 15, I began mentoring young girls and volunteering for a non-profit organization, counseling developmentally delayed children and at-risk youth. I later went on to become a Behavioral Therapist, educating children with autism. My love for children (and passion for education) was the determining factor in the course of my college career. I attained a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Utah in 2008 (graduating with a cumulative GPA of 3.8). I feel after all these wonderful years that I can assist any student who wants to learn as well as those who think they don't. My style depends sometimes on each indiviual's need.
