A Little Bit About Me...

As Cal Poly SLO has one of the most competitive engineering programs on the west coast, I have a depth of knowledge in both math and sciences. After earning my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, I lived in Germany, Ohio, and Central California while trying to figure out my place in this world. I settled for two years in Salinas, California where I taught pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry to junior high and high school students. I believe this level of math is the most important as applications to everyday life are abundant.
As the school I taught at was private, the students were very competitive. I found my lectures and class activities reached 90% of the students. The remaining 10% were the students I especially loved to instruct. A Little Bit About Me...

Having earned degrees in PE, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics I have a strong science background in subjects such as Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Kinetics, Biomechanics, Cellular Biology, Physics and Chemistry. In turn many of these subjects require knowledge of advanced mathmatical formulas and statistics. Therefore I am also very strong in math. I have published many articles as well as scientific research which emphasizes my skills in writing and grammar and again supports my knowledge of statistical analysis. My first visit is just an assessment of where the student began to get lost regardless of the age or level. More often that not, they have to memorize their fractions to decimal to percentage conversion from 1/2 to 1/12. Given this underlying knowledge allows me to focus on the subject at hand. I usually recommend purchasing a Spark Notes or something similar for the subject as a reference guide. I use examples from the book to review, and assist in homework. I do not do the homework for them, however, do ask how they will approach it before diving in. I add tips and tricks and different ways to approaching the problem. I also assist in anxiety control, study and organization habits.
