I have a love for learning and teaching!

I have been teaching special education for six years. I taught special education to kindergarten through third grade in a Montessori school for four years. I have experience in teaching students with disabilities in reading, writing, and math. Many of my students have also been diagnosed with ADHD/ADD, autism, learning disabilities, and emotional impairments. I am currently teaching my second year at a center-based school for autism. In my teaching career, I have used a variety of hands-on material and visuals. I am also a native German speaker. I grew up in Northern Germany and I am therefore familiar with the German culture as a child as well as an adult.

I taught K-4th grade for 4 years as a student teacher. Taught all the subjects in German in various school and various groups of students. I went to an all German teaching high school as well as a German teaching faculty of my university. Worked for Procter&Gamble and Oracle in their multi lingual centers for clients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Very fluent and patient.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with students of all ages. I try to vary the type of activities used to learn, from conversation, to repetition, to interactive games.
As a German major, I know what is involved in learning a foreign language. I taught German for two years to 1st-3rd graders, taught English language and American culture to 14-19 year old students in Austria, and have some experience teaching English to middle school students. Most of my experience teaching English comes from 8 months of planning lessons and teaching English to Austrians. I have lived in both Germany and Austria, and have studied German for 9 years. I am comfortable and confident in my skills teaching ESL and German, at any level.
