My comments on tutoring Math : I have a strong background in mathematics and have successfully tutored students need assistance in math from grades K - 12. I make math interesting, relevant, and most of all, fun. By utilizing games, puzzles, and more traditional methods, I help my students succeed and overcome their math anxieties. I also include banking and consumer math skills since most students do not get any instruction on this vital math life skill! I do not tutor the following; Pre Calculus, Calculus, Trig., statistics, and other high level math concepts at this time.

I have taught for many decades and use a variety of teaching styles since all students learn differently. I am more of a 'traditional' style teacher, realizing that the basics are vital. My comments on tutoring Math : I am currently helping several students prepare for the Math section of the SAT and the ACT. I am also able to offer some help with Math through Algebra I and Geometry. I am not as experienced in these subjects so I am willing to offer discounted rates.

I graduated from Princeton University with a BA (cum laude) in History and will be starting a Ph.D. program in History in the fall. I served as a tutor at the middle school level during my college years and have worked with High School students on History, English and ACT/SAT prep for the past year.I have also served in various other academically-related positions, including as a research assistant and library assistant.
I like to nurture my students without enabling them. I tend to ask my students pointed questions about the subject at hand to inspire critical thinking and push them to arrive at their own interpretation of the correct answer. I feel that this best prepares them for college-level work.
