Hidden Talents Tutoring

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire with a degree in computer science, I started tutoring in the Academic Skills Center at UWEC and discovered this was a hidden talent. My instinctive use of the Socratic method earned praise from the director right away. While working at UWEC, I gained experience with a variety of learning and developmental disabilities, including Asperger's syndrome, visual impairment, brain damage, and dyscalculia. At the university, a technical college, and privately, I have tutored elementary through college students in math, chemistry, reading, grammar, computer science, computer literacy, and test preparation. I can provide a letter of recommendation from my former supervisor at UWEC.

I have a natural talent for being a leader/teacher and have been complimented on my ability to reach out to youth. I like to teach through “hands on” approach, practice and problem solving. I love to see the children’s progress through time and their feeling of confidence when they have mastered a skill your teaching.
While in college I worked a number of years as an after school program classroom lead for two different school districts in the twin cities area. Additionally, during my years of Post College I have worked directly as a youth instructor in a number of scenarios. I have experience teaching Genetics, Horse Anatomy and Physiology, Equine Nutrition, and Natural and Biological Sciences.
