Learning is the first step to success, and I am a big advocate on academics. I take pride in teaching and making sure that the student is learning properly. I believe that children learn differently and what makes a good teacher/tutor you have to be able to teach children in the way that they can learn. During my senior year at Kalamazoo College I tutored in the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT), as well as designing the curriculum for and delivering a free class in the same topic. I graduated as the top Philosophy student in my class after serving as an Honors Teaching Assistant in Philosophy of Law, and then continued on to undergo summer training with Teach For America. Not everyone learns in the same way. I try to discern how the student I am tutoring learns best, whether it's by just doing examples, or visually by physically relating the material to something easier to understand. After I have found out how best to teach my student, I am able to move forward and help them to the best of my ability.
