My comments on tutoring Homework Help : No hovering! Great patience!

I have tutored my friend's daughter in math and English. I have assisted her with science and social studies projects. Her ADHD can inhibit the learning process, but we are able to work through the problems. Learning about weighted blankets helped me work with her. She is a kinetic learner. my nieces are both visual learners. I have to adapt to each learning style.
Teaching brings me pleasure. What I do is to show them, help them, then have them do whatever I am teaching them to do. Sometimes one of the steps may have to be repeated, but this process really works well.

Failure is not an option.

I am currently a student at the university of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where I am majoring in early childhood education with a minor in speech pathology. I am working full time as the head aftercare teacher at hickory valley Christian school where I work with elementary school children. I have much experience in teaching, I am also a current tutor with the Honors program, working with four students ranging from 5th grade to freshman in college. I am more for for the elementary age child, but I can help in anyway when it comes to school. I feel school is the first and main priority because it is what gets you where you need to be in life.
I am very energetic, extremely patient, but I also will not accept back talking, lying, texting on your phone, or any inappropriate behavior while I am working as your teacher. I am always available to help you, I only want to see my students le ... read more

My comments on tutoring Homework Help : I enjoy teaching very much. I believe that understanding and adapting to one's learning style is the key to success in education.

I lived in Belarus from ages 13 to 20 with my parents, who were missionaries. I learned to speak, read, and write in Russian within the first year. I served in our local church by teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, helping in summer camps, leading youth group activities, translating for American visitors, and generally being quite involved in all aspects of my parents' ministry. I am now married with two children, ages 9 and 6. My top priority has always been my family, specifically being physically present as much as possible. Hence my interest in tutoring, which will enable me to have a flexible schedule based on my own family's needs, while utilizing my Russian skills and exploring my love of teaching.

My comments on tutoring Homework Help : I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, and 5th Grade. I am certified K-6th grade. I also taught advanced and Intermediate math and language arts in a GED/HiSet program. I currently teach ESOL/CIVICS for an Adult School.

I have taught 5th Grade Math and Science, 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade as an Interventionist, Kindergarten, and most recently Advanced Math and Language Arts / ESOL/CIVICS in and Adult GED/HiSet program. I have the ability to motivate and light the fire of interest in my students by incorporating in my teaching full emersion projects. Using an approach that fully immerses my students in the subject they are learning gives them the opportunity to learn firsthand instead of being merely a receiver of information. I call this approach “Walk a mile”. I have used this approach in many of my student teaching as well as substituting experiences. For example, in a second grade class that was learning about reading maps I became Pirate Scary Sherry and took the students on a treasure hunt. I dressed like a pirate and told the students that I buried a treasure somewhere in the classroom. I made s ... read more

I have a passion for teaching and working with children. I feel that children are like unpainted canvases and teachers have the ability to help them realize the value of education. Education is priceless and it is something that no one can take away from you. My teaching style includes interactive and hands on methods and it is more of a progressive approach to teaching, as opposed to traditional teaching. I want to teach to help make a difference in the lives of children and help them realize the importance of a good foundation in education throughout their life’s pursuit.
As part of my education program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, I was required to complete a full, yearlong internship. I have a great love of teaching and guiding young people in their academic studies. My approach to teaching or tutoring is open and involves as much personal encouragement as I can. I believe it is essential for the student to have a desire to learn in order for retainable education and it is essential for the teacher/tutor to encourage this desire as much as possible through teaching practices and activities.

While everyone has a passion in life, my passion is to teach and to help shape a child’s academic future. One of the best ways to have an impact on a child’s life is through tutoring. My favorite aspect of tutoring is the opportunity to work one on one with a child and learn his or her individual learning style. Some of my teaching attributes are a good listener, easy going, patient, and most importantly an inspiring teacher. Every child has the ability to learn any subject; they just need the tools and the encouragement in order to do so.
Throughout my entire life, I have always been driven to do the best of my ability. This is especially the case when it comes to academics. While I was a college student, I learned the importance of teaching other colleagues the skill and technique to master a course. At college, I earned a BS in Biology with a concentration in Chemistry, giving ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a strong passion of working with children of all ages. I have had the privilege of observing and being an active leader in an elementary, middle and high school classroom. I understand that every child learns in a different way. My goal as a teacher is to provide them with the best and most suitable education. I am very patient and know that every child is capable of succeeding in their own personal way. Education is one of the most important things in this world. I know for a fact that without the teachers that I have had, I would not be the person that I am today. I am very thankful for that!

A Chinese proverb states tell me and I'll forget, teach me and I'll remember, involve me and I'll learn. My goal is to involve students in their learning. In my classroom I have a variety of learning centers where students practice the skills that they have learned. Centers are designed for multiple learning levels and interests.
I have taught kindergarten for one year and pre-kindergarten for two years. As a kindergarten teacher my DIBELS scores were the highest at the mid year assessment compared to the other two kindergarten classes. As a pre-kindergarten teacher my students scored better in both IGDI's and Bracken testing then the other classroom.
