While in college, I spent my time home from school substitute teaching through Frederick County Public Schools. After graduation from American University, I continued to substitute and in the fall of 2005 I took a part-time position at a middle school, teaching Theatre Arts and Music Performance Lab. While teaching, I began my teaching certification through the Maryland State Department of Education, where I completed a course called Inclusion: Making it Happen. I also taught dance at Dance Unlimited and Elite Feet Dance studios in addition to working at numerous children's theatre camps throughout Maryland and West Virginia.

I have been working for the past two years at a school in Washington, DC. There I was a full-time substitute for grades K-8 and was the assistant director to the after-school program. After I spent five years in the finacial planning field, I realized my passion for working with youth through coaching basketball. Two years ago I changed careers and haven't looked back.
