A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style includes using visuals such as writing on a dry erase board and Powerpoint. I have a great sense of humor but I can firm when I have to be. I am patient and caring and seem to have an intuitive ability to know what the student needs the most.
I have over 25 years experience as a hospital (CFO) Chief Financial Officer. My educational experience includes: teaching high school, teaching college and tutoring elementary and junior high school. I hold a PhD in Financial Management. I have taught English, math, Spanish, accounting, money and banking, investments, human resource management. I have taken these tests myself or have learned how to tutor these: GED, Entrance Exams, GMAT,GRE, MCAT, PCAT, Skills, Strategies and SAT verbal and math.

A Little Bit About Me...

I received a BA in both English and Elem Education at Assumption College in Worcester MA. This has allowed me to qualify teaching at the Elem level, and also teaching English at the jr high and highschool level.I became a substitite for Gilford High right out of college. I worked as an eighth grade long term substitute for Math, Science and Social Studies for 5 months. Upon the teacher returning, I then worked as a 7th grade paraprofessional until we moved to Bakersfield, where I now have taught secod grade for the past two years at Carden School.I have worked with many different grade levels. I have worked with different state's approaches to learning, and beleive this is an advantage in experience.

A Little Bit About Me...

As someone who has loved reading and books since a young age, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life: A career as a writer and a reading teacher. I obtained an AA Degree in Journalism (writing) and a BA Degree in Communications (reading/writing) with emphasis in PR and Journalism. I currently work as the Librarian of an elementary-school library part-time in the mornings/early afternoons. I tutor some of the children with reading issues, as well as tutor a young boy from my neighborhood in reading on the weekends. I would love to tutor reading and English to those who need assistance. My desire to teach stems from my hopeful view of youth. During the past seven years I have been successful in promoting access to higher education to youth of diverse backgrounds by organizing educational workshops and/or working directly on school campuses. I have earned a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in advertising and a minor in Chicano Studies, which has enabled me to gain skills in public speaking, creative writing and art. Also, I have great knowledge regarding sociology, political science and history.
As an undergrad, I excelled in the arts, history and social science courses. However, I lacked interest in math (I didn't get it) and failed college algebra two times!
