A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching music and working with children that are as excited about music as I am. I am a trumpet player and have been playing for 20 plus years. I am a believer in practice makes perfect and will require my students to keep a practice log and ask that the parent be as consistent as I am in assuring their child practices as much as necessary to reach their maximum potential
I was an assistant band director at vigor high school from 2003 til 2007. I've worked with brass and woodwind instrumentalist in preparation for honor band and concert band. I am currently the music instructor at mcintosh elementary school

I am very passionate about teaching children. I am patient but firm, and focus on encouraging and building confidence. I am excellent at breaking down difficult concepts in a way that children can easily grasp. I do not approach teaching in a manner that pursues only a rise in grades or grade levels; I seek to impart long-term skills and a love of learning. A child that performs well during tutoring may still have issues in the classroom, which is why I strive to build a child's confidence in themselves first and foremost.
